Welcome to Year 3
It is a pleasure to introduce you to Year 3. This is a very exciting year for many reasons one being the transition from the Key Stage One to Key Stage Two. A great and exciting step in a child’s Primary Education. There is great joy and enthusiasm as children in Year 3 embark on their Key stage 2 journey. We develop on all the learning that has taken place so far. Our classroom is full of kindness, respect and reliance. We love learning in Year 3.
Mrs Corrigan is our teacher and Miss Brown is our teaching assistant.

Other Useful Information
Design and Technology – Mrs Corrigan shared her knowledge about her visit to China this summer. We tasted 3 different types of Chinese tea and learnt how to write numerals 1 to 10 using Chinese Characters.
We also made a Chinese stir fry, preparing, cooking and eating our finished dish.
French – We learn how to greet one another, ask simple questions and sing songs in French.
Maths – Maths is fun in Year 3! We use concrete objects to help us understand a new concept.
PE – We went to a golf course to give golf a try.
Science – Our first topic in science this year is based on plants. We started in the school garden.
We picked apples from the tree and made our own apple juice. We compared it with a commercially produced apple jucie and guess which juice we preferred?
We went into the sand pit and investigated the root systems of grass.
We watched how seeds germinate and grow in different conditions
We dissected a flower to understand about all it’s components.
We set up a time lapse camera and watched our plants grow.
What a fantastic 3D model showing all the parts of a flowering plant.
