Welcome to Year 1
In Year 1 the staff members are dedicated to ensure children are inspired to reach their full potential. We enjoy doing our learning through a wide range of activities. Children enjoy participating in lots of practical learning both indoors and outdoors including Forest Schools.

Lockdown Home Learning
This week Year 1 have been learning to measure using non-standard and standard methods in maths. They have been inspired in using a ruler to measure almost everything. They even taught Mr White how to use a ruler correctly. They have had so much fun.
In RE, Year 1 have been learning about Buddhism. They have learned the real name of Buddha , where he came from ,the four sights and have reflected on how they can show kindness and love to mankind. They reflected on how Buddha became enlightened under a bodhi tree and decided to try out meditating for themselves . They meditated to become enlightened on how to show kindness within our school.
Year 1 have been learning about the countries within the United Kingdom and what makes the United Kingdom special.They have discovered amazing landmarks, rivers, seas and mountains. This week they have tasted different cuisines from Scotland,Northern Ireland, Wales and England. The children certainly enjoyed their feast.
This week year 1 have been learning about coding in computing. They used the Beebots and followed the codes on their sheet to see where the Beebot would land on the Treasure Island map. Then they created their own codes for others to follow.
